YOLANDA ORTIZ

Yolanda got into fitness as a way towards healing and connection. Always drawn to group fitness, Yolanda was inspired by the strong women who taught her favorite classes. As a way of confronting a fear of public speaking, she pursued a group fitness certification through Les Mills for her favorite format, Body Combat. With no intention of teaching regularly, Yolanda was offered a regular class and began teaching at various gyms in the triangle. A career shift into rehab and her training approach started to shift towards general physical preparedness and mobility. She became drawn to different implements like kettlebells, maces, clubs and flow arts. She has a special interest in adaptive training from her time managing a local paralysis recovery center, where she worked with individuals recovering from spinal cord injuries, strokes and other neurological conditions.
